Jeff Hardy vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

The latest episode of SmackDown Live aired on the USA Network tonight. Here’s what’s happened:

10:00 – Those competing at Money in the Bank stare at Asuka to end the show. They let her know that if she wins the belt on Sunday, the winner of MITB will be coming for her soon.

9:55Lynch, Lana, Flair, Naomi & Asuka win. Lana saves Asuka from being pinned by Carmella, and Asuka capitalizes on it, putting Carmella is the Asukalock for the win.

9:45 – Deville and Naomi start things off. Deville drives Naomi into the corner and tags Carmella in to finish her off. A series of rapid tag-ins play out, to the point where everyone is brawling, inside the ring and out. Flair manages to take out the Ilonics with a moonsault to the floor.

9:38 – Renee Young interviews Big Cass about his upcoming match against Daniel Bryan at Money in the Bank. He brags about making $25K for an appearance at a county fair and shows off a height display he stole from a rollercoaster.

9:30Nakamura wins by disqualification. The brutal match goes to the Kinshasa despite his injuries.

9:22 – The match starts off slow, but Hardy pulls out a few hard hits, including a flying clothesline that levels Nakamura. Both Hardy and Nakamura get injured, but it is the former who gets disqualified when he hits Nakamura after he gets his foot caught in the rope.

9:15 – Back from commercial, Jeff Hardy heads to the ring to face Shinsuke Nakamura.

9:12 – The Miz opens the briefcase only to find it filled with pancakes. He throws a fit while The New Day is shown laughing backstage.

9:05Rusev wins. He sticks Joe with the Machka Kick and pins him. Rusev grabs a ladder from the ring and starts to climb it, but The Miz hits him with a Skull Crushing Finale. Miz climbs the ladder himself and pulls the briefcase down.

8:56 – Samoa Joe overpowers Rusev and pushes him into the corner with a few body shots. Rusev recovers in spectacular fashion, however, and clotheslines Joe, sending him out of the ring. Back in the ring, Joe locks in the Coquina Clutch, but The Miz refuses to count the pin. Joe yells at Miz until Rusev gets back up to attack him.

8:46 – Hometown hero Jerry “The King” Lawler comes out to the ring to talk about the WWE title match. He brings out AJ Styles for a special interview. Lawler only asks one question, and Styles talks for a few minutes about how he’s going to defeat Shinsuke Nakamura at Money in the Bank.

8:40 – Paige bumps into Asuka backstage and asks for a match against Carmella tonight. Paige says that she’ll add them to the eight-woman tag team match to make it 10 Superstars in total. The Miz then walks up to Paige and asks to be the special guest referee for Joe vs. Rusev. Paige tells Miz that he’s a bad actor but agrees to put him in as ref anyway.

8:36Bryan wins. He locks Benjamin up and forces him to tap out.

8:30 – Benjamin is the first to strike. He gets Bryan into a corner and pummels him with a knee. Bryan fights his way out and uppercuts Benjamin. The latter picks Bryan up and attempts to slam him down, but Bryan escapes again and manages to turn the tables on Benjamin. He gets Benjamin into a heel hook.

8:14 – The show plays a clip from the last time SmackDown was held in Memphis. Daniel Bryan is riling the crowd up in the clip. We cut to the ring, and Bryan is the first one out for his match against Shelton Benjamin.

8:05 – Kay and Royce come out to mock the four women in the ring. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville also come out to complain about not being in Money in the Bank. Lynch tries to lead Flair, Lana, and Naomi out of the ring, but they’re stopped and threatened by the other four. It’s announced that tonight, all eight women will participate in the largest women’s tag team match in SmackDown history.

8:00 – The show opens with a quick rundown of the scheduled matches, while Paige introduces the four women from SmackDown who will be competing at Money in the Bank on Sunday: Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Lana, and Naomi. The women start arguing over who will win the ladder match, but are interrupted by Billie Kay and Peyton Royce.
