Trump: My poll numbers would be better if it wasn’t for Mueller

President Trump insisted on Saturday that his “good” poll numbers would be higher if not for special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.

“While my (our) poll numbers are good, with the Economy being the best ever, if it weren’t for the Rigged Russian Witch Hunt, they would be 25 points higher!” Trump tweeted on Saturday night.

“Highly conflicted Bob Mueller & the 17 Angry Democrats are using this Phony issue to hurt us in the Midterms. No Collusion!”

On Friday, Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort cut a deal to cooperate with Mueller’s investigation into Russia meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Trump’s approval rating was at 36 percent in a CNN poll conducted by SSRS and released Monday.

The president followed up his poll-numbers tweet with a comment on the politics of border security.

“When will Republican leadership learn that they are being played like a fiddle by the Democrats on Border Security and Building the Wall?” he tweeted. “Without Borders, we don’t have a country. With Open Borders, which the Democrats want, we have nothing but crime! Finish the Wall!”

He went on to tweet about Florence, which was downgraded to a tropical storm as it continued to pummel North Carolina on Saturday.

“Five deaths have been recorded thus far with regard to hurricane Florence! Deepest sympathies and warmth go out to the families and friends of the victims. May God be with them!” he tweeted at 6:42 p.m.

Earlier in the day, he tweeted several endorsements for fellow Republicans. He voiced support for Rep. Pete Sessions (Texas) and Rep. Keith Rothfus (New York), who are in tough fights to keep their seats, and for Danny Tarkanian, who’s vying for Nevada’s 3rd House district.
