Homeless man assaults cop whereas being arrested in Chelsea, police say


A homeless man assaulted a police officer when she requested him for ID in Chelsea, police and sources mentioned Wednesday.

The cop had requested 28-year-old Brian Thayer for his identification round 8:30 a.m. Tuesday when she noticed him blocking the staircase at a subway station close to Seventh Avenue and West 34th Road.

Thayer allegedly instructed her he’s a police officer after which bought up and walked away. When she tried to position him beneath arrest, he flailed his arms and allegedly refused to be handcuffed.

Then, when she tried to position him within the cop automobile, he kicked her repeatedly within the knees and abdomen, police sources mentioned.

He continued his assault on her later within the day, whereas he was in a jail cell, the place he spit at her, the sources added.

She was taken to Lenox Hill HealthPlex for remedy.

Thayer was charged with assault, felony impersonation, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration and violation of native regulation, police mentioned.
