Count on Auburn’s outside shot against streaky Washington

In a rare early-season Pac-12-versus-SEC basketball clash, No. 11 Auburn and No. 25 Washington square off Friday night.

Washington is coming off a 73-55 win over a shorthanded Western Kentucky squad that ran out of gas after taking a 36-27 halftime lead thanks to a 17-0 run.

Auburn will be missing Danjel Purifoy but gets a reinforcement in 6-foot-11 Austin Wiley, who did not play in the team’s 101-58 season-opening win against South Alabama.

This is a battle between a more defensive team in Washington and one with massive offensive firepower in Auburn. If the Huskies get down, it will be hard to trust their perimeter shooting considering the team shot 5-of-25 from 3-point range to open the season. Auburn got off to a 38-11 start in its season opener and starts five guys that can all shoot from the outside. The starting lineup went 15-for-29 from beyond the arc and will be too much for Washington.

The play: Auburn, -9
