Police have made an arrest in the fatal shooting of the son of an aide to the Brooklyn Borough president last month.
Tyjuan Cassidy, 39 is charged with murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm in the Sept 2 death of Lester Jack, 22, near a basketball court on Hancock Street and Spencer Place in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
Jack’s mother works as an aide to Borough President Eric Adams, in his Office of the Senior Advisor.
Jack was shot once in the chest and rushed to Interfaith Medical Center where he died.
A 29-year-old man was also injured in the shooting.
Police identified Cassidy as the shooter using surveillance footage from nearby businesses.
Cassidy was arrested in Watertown, NY on drug charges about two weeks after the shooting. He was brought back to the city where he was awaiting arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court.
Cassidy has at least five prior arrests in New York City dating back to 1996, including for narcotics, firearms, burglaries, and assault, cops said.
Authorities believe the motive for the shooting may have been gang-related.
